    'Nuff Said
I was standing at the ticket hopper and a girl came up to me:

Me - You have a ticket stub?

Girl - I left it in my movie.

Me - What are you watching?

Girl - Drag me to hell.

    Me - How is it?

Girl - I just threw up in my mouth.

    Gettysburg

Had a real interesting weekend.  Went to PA for my friend Doug’s wedding.  Had another friend, Ben, get married this weekend.  Unfortunately I missed that one.  Spent 12 hours each way in a jeep with a couple of guys with the most foul mouths and obnoxious behavior.  Needless to say I made two new friends.

The hotel we stayed @ (Cross Keys Motor Inn) was a real nice dump.  When we checked in we were shocked to find that a previous guest rubbed one out on the carpet in the corner next to the TV.  By this time we were high as kites and we knew we would not be taken seriously with this complaint as we would be unable to make it with a strait face.  To make things worse there was no pool.  However, you could smoke in the rooms so there was a silver lining.

The wedding was nice.  The priest looked like an aged, gay Charlie Chaplin, even had the mustache.  The reception was in downtown Gettysburg.  The tourists were out in force; it was the first weekend of the season.  It was interesting to walk out of the reception hall and see rebels and yanks walking up and down the street.

That night we hit the town of New Oxford, PA.  There were really only two places to go.  The Park Hotel Lounge; A few pool tables, a bar with some of the cheapest booze (3 shots of Wild Turkey + a Modelo = $8) served by geriatric but friendly hosts.  There was a long balcony on the upper level exterior of the hotel.  It looked like the perch of Al Swearengen.

We later went down the street within walking distance to La Fonte, an Italian restaurant that had Karaoke and cheep but delicious Guinness on tap.  We drank, sang and made fools of ourselves to our hearts content.  We made it back for some authentic Italian food for lunch.  Fresh lasagna straight from the oven, good stuff.  The owner of the place was trying to set her daughter up with our traveling companion Gino.

The ride back was cool; beautiful views driving through the Appalachians in VA and lots of ear popping.  So I’m back in town and off probation.  Let’s hang out folks.  I’m thinking of “Drag Me To Hell” this week.

I noticed a lot of people weren’t pleased with Terminator.  My personal opinion:  I enjoyed it, but of coarse I liked Home Fries.  The point is that I think everyone has forgotten how to perceive correctly… it’s a Terminator movie!!!  What were you expecting, deep and meaningful dialogue, a complex plot with no holes?  If that’s the case you must be familiar with a different Terminator franchise than I.  Explosions, special effects, and bad ass action/chase scenes these are the trademarks of a Terminator movie.  That being said the movie delivered.

    It's been a while...

I have worked at quite a few jobs since joining the work force at the age of 16.  Never have I ever really been fired from a job… until today.  On my day off I get a call notifying me that I “…just don’t fit into the Trademark World”.  This after I left a secure job that I had held for six years to work in a smaller less corporate b.s. filled environment.  I’m not terribly upset about loosing the job.  I was going to start looking for something else anyway.  It’s just that it ruined my record and it came at a very inopportune time.  With my mother’s health problems and the pressures of everyday life closing in on me like a foreign armada choking me off from the outside world, I have a pretty big plate full of shit.  I’m not asking for anyone’s sympathy.  Hell, I don’t have much to complain about with everything that is happening to countless others less fortunate than myself but still I’m coming unraveled.  I will ask something of my friends who read this.  Some of you may laugh or think me to be simple minded but I really don’t care what other’s think about me at this point.  If you care for me, at all, please pray for me.  Whatever you believe in the power of positive thought can not be denied. Most of all please pray for my mother.  She is my rock and without her I would surely be lost.

    Christmas Time...
Christmas was good to me this year.  I had the Day off from work and got to spend some time with my family.  Dan and I got some kick ass presents which will lead to many pics here on my LJ.  I got a nice digital camera and my brother got... well this:

His name is Levi and he's eight weeks old.

So, I'm going to be uploading pics like mad now.

Ladies, get ready to smile for the birdie.

    Random THought
I like to drive alone at night. If I got a little buzz on. The way I look out into the darkness unflinching and unafraid of what lies ahead of me. Just driving on. I get in tune with almost anything on the radio and become one with the music and the road simultaneously. Every turn matches up with the bend of the guitar and every bump on the bridge is in sync with the beat. I’m just breathing and enjoying every breath and draw off of my cigarette. As much as I wish that there were someone in the left bucket seat enjoying the night air with me, I enjoy flying solo sometimes. Everything’s smooth as long as I’m not going anywhere in particular or a destination with few expectations. I have too many expectations as it is. There’s the trick, no expectations.

    Influanced

I am writing tonight as an experiment to see if writing under the influence is a deterrent or a help to the creative flow.  You be the judge.  I haven’t posted in a while about anything so please forgive me if you were following the chronicle of my fun filled trip to Charleston.  It will remain forever a part two that never made it.  So I’ll write randomly about the first topics that come to mind.

First, Sadie has a fetish for bringing things onto the porch from the yard and into returning an item in like kind to the yard.  Mostly she likes to eat wood.  She keeps dragging pieces of raw lumber up and then de-barking them and gnawing to her heart’s content.  This leaves what seem to be sparse pieces of drift wood lying on an un-kept shoreline.  Eve has an attitude.  That is all on that.

I smoked alone tonight which was weird for me because I usually enjoy smoking with others.  Maybe I do need to spend more time alone.

Dragoncon is just days away and I foolishly look forward too it hoping that it will be a goodtime.  Don’t get me wrong it is fun it’s just that I’m wired in some way that never let’s me enjoy things, at least not as much as I’d like to.  Even bonnaroo was not much fun as a whole.  But I like to pay too much attention to the part.  The moments that, even if only for just a second, everything is perfect.  Even though there is no cohesiveness and the center doesn’t hold it was in but a twinklin’ together.  Shit was not all apart.

I remember eating an apple in a movie theatre and feeling like an asshole but not really caring at second thought because it was the most delicious apple I had ever eaten.  That is the power of good company.

I believe in magic.  This is my most powerful weakness.

    If...

    Who knows?

    I sure as hell don’t.

No matter how old I get I still want to get the feeling that I can’t help but laugh in moments when we are all supposed to be quiet.  Even if I master it into a light chuckle.

Wow I just read that and It sounded macabre for some reason.  It made me think of someone laughing at a funeral.  I mean those times that are a good.  Wait I still can see some of y’all laughing at a funeral.  How jaded have we become.  Talk about innocence lost.

    CSN and Sometimes Y

Today was a long one.  I woke to a call from my mother to inform me that Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young were playing tomorrow night at Phillips.  This of coarse I already knew but we’re both broke so you know how that goes.  I visited the coinstar before heading to work because as I said previously I’m broke and needed some money so I broke int my little Toy Story Alien penny bank.  I was able to afford 2 Banquet frozen dinners at the cost of 99cents each.  Then I sat in ridiculous traffic with no AC because a truck had overturned on my exit ramp for work.  Not a very fun detour.

Work was interesting I actually took a break and left the building today.  That was new.  But after my break I’m standing in the customer service station when what to my wandering eyes should appear;  Crazy Hair getting on the elevator attached to a face bearing an all to familiar moustache.  Yep It was David Crosby.  I walk out to the elevator to get a better look and the next thing I know I’m standing not three feet from Neil Fucking “Searching For A Heart Of Gold” Young.  For the first time, I think ever, I was truly star struck.  I tried to say something nonchalant like “Hey guys, how you doin?” but decided that it wasn’t a good idea to open my mouth because I might not be able to restrain myself from bursting out into Tin Soldiers.  So I go to find a camera and by the time I do they’re long gone.  BUMMER!!!  Oh well

Later that night Ashley, Ric and I watched World Trade Center.  It’s hard to describe watching that film.  Very true to life.  I’ll say this Stone didn’t make it a Hollywood movie.  Haunting images and original footage take the audience back to reliving the horror we all felt as we were glued to the TV that day.  It’s no strong achievement in filmmaking but it is a much needed reminder, through the eyes of the real people these characters are based on, of how good we can be even and especially in the face of such evil.  It is a testament to the indomitable human spirit and our collective and individual struggle to survive and make sense in a world gone mad.  It will also make you wonder why people will pay nearly $10 a ticket to walk into an emotional film like this and talk through nearly the whole thing.

Then Ric and I went to Brent’s to hang out.  We ate burgers and watched a documentary on staged terrorist attacks.  I won’t get into it here because I’m too tired and I think I would start to get angry but it is an interesting documentary by Alex Jones I think.  The title escapes me.  Help me out here Brent.   So now, as I barely hold my eyes open,  I say good night/morning/afternoon/evening or whatever time it may be when you read this.

    Charleston: Day 1

So today I watched Clerks II for the fourth time. I should get some sort of recognition from Kevin Smith, except I don't have to pay for movies so that sort of deminishes the accomplishment.

Ashley and I then went down town to get tickets for a walking ghost tour. After paying for the tickets for the 9:30PM tour (we needed the ambiance of darkness, thought it would be more affective) we found this bar that used to be an episcopel church and had a few. Happy hour ran till 8 and drafts were 2$. "What a bargain!"

After having our fill at the bar and getting into another one of those introspective conversations that we're famouse for (we think too much) we hurried to the fountain where the walking tour was supposed to meet. Ok, is anyone aware that Kurt Russel moonlights as a tour guide in Charleston? We were surprised. The ghost stories, whether true or not, had an interesting history behind them none the less.

I think tomorrow we're just going to walk through the old historic distict. The architecture and history that unfolds on the plaquards around town are interesting enough.

We got back to the hotel hit the pool and then smoked a cigar in the hot tub while discussing religion, politics and conspiracy theory. Until today I never noticed how interesting the SC state flag was. See if you can figure out why. If you figure it out I'm impressed.

    Capsule Review

    - Saturday night @ Justin's going a way party was a blast even though I came late and missed the show(s). I have to get drunk with Mitsu more often. Thanks for your hospitality guys and Justin, good luck in California. Be safe.

    - Last night I went drinking with Ric and Ashley. We met an astrophysicist, or at least a young lady studying to be an astrophysicist. She's doing research on water deposits in asteroids. Very interesting. It became apparent through conversation with the fellas, that had nothing to do with the astrophysics student, that I have passed up on a lot of action with the fairer sex. That's right I could be a player if I wanted to.

    - We got home and the three of us joined Santiago, our fourth roommate, for some TV and talk. Good times. After another fine episode of Deadwood we retired to our separate chambers. I was bored so I read every LJ post I've ever written just as a capsule review. I don't want to re-post anything; I hate to be redundant. I chuckled when I came across a post where I was bitching about gas prices being at $2.00 a gallon. Around 7AM I crashed but not before marveling at what a good writer I am. Just kidding. But it was fun to look back and I wondered why I don't post as much. So I think I'll remedy that.

    - Ashley and I drove to Charleston tonight, fun drive. I am sitting in the office space of the hotel and looking forward to a fun and well deserved vacation. My first since NY in 2002. I should really do this more often.
